Organization Affiliation

Signet currently has 5 loan officers that work with clients along with Clay.

Signet's focus is on finding solutions that fit client's needs. All of the loan officers at Signet are former (or current) CPA's or related financial backgrounds and have an advisory approach to helping a client meet their financial goals. You will not find sales people at Signet. You will find experts in the mortgage field that invest the time in helping you make the best choice in financing your residential or investment property financing. In that pursuit Signet Mortgage stays current on the credit markets and the impact of economic events on Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) and mortgage rates and the availability of funds for real estate financing.

Signet is focused on residential and commercial lending in California, Arizona, Utah and Oregon. Signet is an approved FHA lender which provides expanded programs for residential lending including 203(k) renovation loans and incorporates reverse mortgages too!


Contract With Client

Clay currently does not employ a written contract with clients but plans to adopt the standard UMB contract when it becomes available.


Technology Employed

Signet uses an online application process which clients can use to fill out their application at their convenience.


Locking Procedures

Signet locks loans to refinance upon receipt of the completed application, plus other items that have been requested from the client. Purchase loans are locked on the day the purchase contract is signed, provided the client has already provided the information required for a pre-approval used to support the purchase.


Third Party Fees

Signet guarantees lender, broker and third-party closing costs on the day that the rate is locked. If any of these costs at closing are higher than those shown on the good faith estimate given to the borrower at the time the rate lock is confirmed, the company will pay the difference.


Broker Fees

Signet negotiates fees on a case by case basis. Some of the criteria that go into the determination of our fees are: Loan Amount, Credit History, Documentation Type, Borrower Participation, and Closing Time Frame.


Bio

Clay founded Signet Mortgage Corporation in 2003. Clay holds a real estate broker’s license and is a Certified Public Accountant (California). Clay began his financial career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen, and he has held senior finance and strategy roles with Longs Drug Stores, Cost Plus: World Market, and several other start-up retailers.

Clay has three kids - is a Bay Area native and has lived in Alamo, CA for over 25 years. Clay and his wife are in the transition stage of having his kids go to college and get married, so the focus seems to be shifting to their border collies! Clay can often be found hiking, playing softball or on the golf course.
